This website is dedicated to helping to end extreme poverty over the next 25 years. Poverty is a vast, multi-dimensional problem, but solutions have been developed and are being implemented. It is the responsibility of every citizen to ensure those solutions reach the people who need help most. It is our responsibility to understand the problem, listen to the poor and speak up for them, and support practical efforts to free people from the traps that mire 15% of the world in poverty. On this website we call those three responsibilities knowledge, solidarity, and concrete action.
     Above is a video excerpt from a speech by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the U.N. Millennium Project, which poignantly summarizes why we desperately need to take the problem of poverty seriously. The other video explains one particularly effective approach to poverty reduction: Millennium Villages.
